Bass player here with a Frankenbone with a Holton Flare...
Just under 10" diameter flare
Hair over 3.5" tall
Bit under 3.5" diameter at joint
Length of remaining bell section is ~23.25" with attachment tuning slides all the way in.
(FWIW, this fits in the Shires/Marco M hardcase)
Cheers,
Andy

Pretty rough estimates because I wasn't smart enough to get a ruler for school.
Edwards bass bell (conversion done by Dan Oberloh 2 owners ago)
Bell Diameter: 9.5 in
Thickness (Height, I assume) of the flare section: ~ 4 in
Diameter of the ring: ~ 3.5 in
Length of bell section: ~ 22.5 in

Bach 42b
--Bell diameter 8.5
--Thickness of flare section 2.75
--Diameter of bell section threaded receiver 3
--Length of bell section 23.5
Bach 36
--Bell diameter 8
--Thickness of flare section 3
--Diameter of bell section threaded receiver 3
--Length of bell section 24
both done by Josh Landress using a French Horn ring (Alexander I think? I can't remember)
Part of the issue is these rings are made in bulk by horn manufacturers. They are a set size. To put them on a trombone you will have to fish for the best match between throat diameter and the ring. Different size trombones = different placement = more or less thickness. Not sure if Shires or Thein is making a ring just for trombones or if they use a French Horn ring.

I believe Instrument Innovations is now making some, IIRC. Not on their website, but I believe they are making some in various diameters. For a while, they were mailing things with a set of calipers to make some measurements to make them custom for the flare.

elmsandr,
If you are looking to fit your horn with screwbell rings, you need to contact Mike Olsen at instrumentinnovation.com. He has a very precise method of measuring bells with plastic rings and calipers and custom makes each ring set to order. There really is no “one size fits these models” system. You should do it the right way and have rings made specifically for your trombone.
