FS: Shires/Minick Bass

Post by bassbone » Sat Jul 25, 2020 3:09 pm

Photos are available here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/hvlrbzau50ar ... 8se5a?dl=0

Specs:
Bell 1: Shires BII 7YM Bell (medium weight Bach mandrel yellow brass bell)
Bell 2: Minick 9.5" Berylium Bronze bell (taper on this is a bit more open than Bach through the throat of the bell)
Tru Bore Valves
B seamed tuning slide
B62YC slide (single bore yellow crook slide). Very good slide action and no wear on the stockings
Leadpipes: Shires B3 and Brass Ark MV50

It has recently received a chemical clean and a slide alignment. Very good condition other than lacquer wear.
I'm thinking $3,500 (no case included) with your choice of bell or $4,100 for both bells. Buyer pays shipping (if buying both bells, I will ship them in separate boxes)

If someone opts for one bell, the other will be available for sale. Other than that, not interested in parting out at this point.

More pictures available on request. Just ask.

Open to offers.

Also open to potential trades + cash
potentially looking for
- Greenhoe lexan valve caps (2 for bass)
- Bach 42's. Especially older, gold brass
- Bach 36 (not 36B)
- Bach-ish shires tenor bell (i.e. Chicago or TII5VNY bell + X tuning slide)

I don't think Shires makes one that compares well. It is wider through the throat of the bell than their BII taper. Looks like a 1 piece bell to me, and I would put the weight close to a Shires HW

Hi,
If the buyer only wants the BII 7YM and the Minick is left I would be interested in it.
Thanks

I have someone messaging me here about potentially buying the setup with both bells, but nothing has been agreed on yet. If that falls through (or if they opt for the Shires bell only), I will be interested in selling the Minick bell separate from the Shires setup.

There is one person on this thread that expressed interest before you that I will give first option to.
