Recently purchased this bass from Dillon Music and thought I would share it on the forum for those that may not have social media. According to Conn Loyalist, it should date to late 1915. Fuchs bell? Noah has a very similar horn, I think.

You know, I’m not too sure. The thought had crossed my mind as it does look like a pretty big flare. I’ll have to compare it to my Fuchs bell when I have a chance.

It looks big at the J bend connection. But impossible to tell from a photo!

That’s very true. Pictures are definitely deceiving!

Not too different at all! Looking at them side by side, it looks like the bell sections are very similar in dimensions.

Might not exactly be a Fuchs but that bell throat sure looks like a Fuchs bell and like my Minick!

Guess I should’ve checked the extra box that the E slide came in better. Didn’t realize this was wrapped in bubble wrap until I was about to throw everything out. Conn-Clarke mouthpiece in remarkable shape!

I have a Conn Clarke with a small shank. It's like a 6 1/2-ish size. Intended for the 522 and 547 bore horns. Didn't think it was for the basses, which I thought used a Conn Kenfield. But maybe somebody used this horn with a mouthpiece like the Clarke?

Man that horn looks great! How does it play in comparison to your Fuchs or a more modern bass trombone?

Not sure. I also was under the impression that horns of this size were supplied with the Kenfield mouthpiece.

It plays/sounds just as good as the Fuchs. Very focused/robust sound throughout. Low Cs and Bs really pop with this horn. I plan to take this horn along with my Duo Gravis to big band on Thursday night to give it a good run through.
