"Dead" ?

Post by samopn » Wed Jul 03, 2019 7:02 am

I came across a musical instruction "dead" in a (big band) part I was playing earlier today.

So how should I play that? What would you do?

I did play with a airy sound absolutely straith, no vibrato, absolutely the same volume throughout.

Actually, I play with no vibrato and no attacks or dynamics.
