This has been my only complaint with concert halls in Japan -- they are all acoustically fantastic but the stage lights will actually give you a sunburn and make the stage unbearably hot to play a whole concert on.

Have the Japanese converted their stage lighting to cooler LEDs?

Nope. The lights will still give you a sunburn and make the stage unbearably hot.
