"The Olds"

Post by jeffreywilliamwilliams »

I posted a while back about getting an Olds 3 Mouthpiece. In the end I found a Vincent Bach 15EW to fit this tiny bore horn I bought from the States. I have had the slide repaired at McQueens in Swinton Manchester who did an amzing job of getting the dents out and then realigned the slide itself. They also lathed the shank of the mouthpiece down to fit the Olds. I am so happy with the results! This is an 85 year old instrument and it is so bright and positive across the ranges of the instrument! Apologies for the tuning, I'm still getting used to where the positions are. Also apologies for the pyjamas and dressing gown. It feels like Xmas morning! I have a gig later playing early Ellington, can't wait to try it out in anger!! Check it out and tell me what you think, I made a little video.

Hi, thanks for the offer Vegasbound, but the Bach piece seems a good match and works really well with the horn.
