Thumbs up! I like my one from the early 70's more than the newer ones, though.

If you are buying new, play it. If you like it buy it.

If you are buying used and you can not play. Get a good price, play it, then keep it or sell it. It will end up in a good home.

The earlier the better with Holtons is a good rule of thumb. The Holtons from the 60s are a different monster from the ones from the 70s. But even a mehh Holton is still pretty darn good and can be taken apart and put back together to play better!

The early TR183s won't have the little medallion. Those ones are the good ones from the first couple of batches before production on the TR181 went into full swing.
