Quoting Issue

Post by harrisonreed »

I am not too tech savvy, and all my posts are done on my phone -- is there a way to make the quote button only quote the post you hit the quote button on, rather than that post and all the nested quotes already in it? It is time consuming trying to select text to cut out with my big fingers!

Use a smaller finger?

Or a bigger phone?

Good one! But don't you think that having the quote button quote nested comments is something that could be improved?

The TTF software didn't nest anything and it had its own problems. This one nests. Sorry.

Hey sorry, I didn't see this until now. There actually is a functionality to reduce the # of nested quotes when the button gets pressed. I'll take a look at it.

Yes indeed, I can change the maximum depth. Anyone else have a preference? It's set to 3 at the moment. Honestly, 1 makes the most sense to me but I can see how 2 would as well. I agree 3 is kind of silly.

I'd prefer 1, but I'm only one fool up on this forum. I guess 2 is better than 3!

No preference, but I'd rather delete what I don't want to include than have to hunt for what I do.

It's more a matter of how far the nesting will go. Ergo, if you put a quote in a quote in a quote, it won't do the third level of nesting if 2 is set as the max. I do tend to find quotes in quotes in quotes to be a little confusing though quotes in quotes can sometimes be useful in that they are responding to a response and provide somecontext although... given the nature of message boards, the context is also fairly linear.
