High range regressions
Hi all! I just had a question for what yall do when you experience a regression in your high register. For about a year and a half I have been able to comfortably play up to double Bb with a great tone quality and could hold it out for a good while. However, about a week ago I began experiencing a regression where I could only play up to double Ab comfortably and on the first try (my first attempt to play the note that day). Only after many attempts and a lot of time would I be able to get the notes to come out. On all my failed attempts, the notes would have a pitch that you could identify, but the tone just sounded incredibly airy and “screech” like. I’m also curious to figure out what originally caused this as I had made no adjustments to my total playing time for the day, hydration, etc. Any and all advice would be appreciated!

Re: High range regressions
Perhaps it would be a good idea to set your phone on your stand and occasionally save a short video when things are going well.
Then when they go badly you can compare the two and maybe spot what you're doing wrong.
Or, if all else fails, share the video and see if someone else can spot it.
But first check your water key cork.

Have a Skype lesson with Doug Elliott, would be my suggestion!
