I'll go ahead and do the upgrade when I wake up tomorrow. Probably around 6AM. Expect an outage for a few hours. Fortunately, this upgrade will be the migration I wanted to get to last year that allows me to containerize this site finally... so subsequent upgrades should be relatively quick. If we even stay on phpbb. I'll talk more about that later in the month.

Almost done. Assets are copying to their new location (which is why no one's avatar or images are showing up) and running some final testing as I type.

Okay, site upgrade should be done. I have a gig to get to, so I'm going to leave things as they are. The assets (images) should start to populate as the copy finishes over the next few hours and likewise the "super search" index will start to have better results after a few hours.

There is one outstanding bug that requires you to hit the "login" button every time you access the site in a new tab (at least in my browser). This is not a difficult fix, so I'll do that later tonight. Shouldn't even require downtime.

If you notice any other issues, please feel free to put them here. I also owe a few people a response, I'll try to get all those out today. Thanks for y'alls patience!

Whoops. Sorry folks. Silly error with a spam filter, resolved now. As you can see, the assets are now working properly and cached.

Posting and PMs should now be permanently resolved. Or at least that particular error should no longer exist. I was able to make a PM and a post at least.

Search (not the custom lightning one but search itself is down). Investigating now. FWIW, there's no advantage to using built in phpbb search over my custom search function and usually isn't good, but I like to be thorough.

Incidentally, the new "new posts" and "your posts" also appears broken. Working on that now too.

The MCP server is also live: https://mcp.trombonechat.com/. If you are interacting with the site with agents/LLMs, such as Claude, there are instructions for how to specify it. It is, for obvious reasons, limited to read-only (search) - and it will not produce anything from the classifieds, for the same reason people need 3 posts to be able to see the classifieds.

Currently, it does not require authentication. At some point, I might allow users to provide credentials if they are registered users so they can see classifieds, but not this week.

I believe all outstanding issues are resolved.

Additionally, there's a new script that runs that resizes images and converts them to jpg so we won't have giant pictures coming through for no reason. I'm seeing savings as much as 95%. It'll take another hour or so to churn through everything but expect to have images load a lot faster soon between that change and the loading directly from object storage change.

It’s still pretty high resolution. I haven’t gotten rid of any of the original assets so if it doesn’t work as well for the zoomed in use case I can probably make another add on to specifically enable you to retrieve the larger image.

Search is upgraded to have a few more options like sorting by page publication date; fixed a bug where concatenation was not always happening for multiple keywords.

Clicking on a user's username within messages to access their profile brings me to the login screen even though I am logged in. Just letting you know!

Oh interesting, it's not specific to messages -- it's just one distinct user that if I click their username, it brings me to the login page. Everyone else works and everything else seems to be great.

I have a strong suspicion I know why (nothing to do with the user! its a bug I've been chasing down). If you want to let me know either publicly or privately I can investigate.
