Conn 110H Serial Number dating for 574179 ??

Hi Hope Y'all keeping well.

You know I Love both my 1950's Conn 70H's and that you have probably heard a few of my Home recordings
playing on my Yellow Brass version which is amazing....very addictive.

Well, I've often wondered what it would be like to play on the Conn 110 H that George played on during his later years, knowing he played on several different variants. Well my waiting and patience payed off as I'm now the proud owner of a Newish Gen II. It arrived on Friday and I LOVE this thing, it's a beautifully crafted horn and did not expect the craftsmanship this instrument shows.

It has a Lush 10" Rose Brass 10" Bell which vibrates really nicely, but not too thin or heavy, the Neck pipe and Tuning slide are also Rose brass and is the Outer slide, I mean this is gorgeous, really.

I was not and still not sure the exact year of manufacture as the Bell Serial number is 574179 with No prefix, or Suffix, the Conn Loyalist does not show all the modern horn serial nos as Noah advised me they only refer to Elkhart or Texas and not UMI and Steinway. BUT my Bell engraving says Made in Elkhart, Indiana ?

I'm going to attached a few photos.

Can anyone help me identifying the Year of Manufacture at all ?

On another note, the Lead-pipe seems to be a MORSE taper so my DE K8C shank won't fit in any way near so I might need to get in touch with Doug to see if he can suggest another shank other than my L8 which does not go in far enough for me, I believe the 110H Lead-pipe is a C type but don't know exactly what this is, I do know the taper is very quick limiting any mouth piece selection, like my MV1.5, Fergusson L, and as mentioned K8C which we all know is a Remmington so I kinda new this would be a problem.

Bell engraving is beautiful. Enjoy that horn.

Modern Conn trombones were made in Eastlake from around 1982 until around 2020 so the engraving with Elkhart would indicate the horn was made in the past 5-6 years or so. They also had Morse taper leadpipes after they moved production from Abilene.

Agreed. I wouldn't judge based on the MV mouthpiece, but that Ferguson L - or a standard Doug Elliott shank - should sit one inch into a standard Morse taper leadpipe receiver. This is a not uncommon production problem.

Yeah Aidan / Gabe ! The Mount Vernon and DE shanks are Remmingtons, so not surprised, I might need to consider pulling this Lead-pipe to I can fit my Conn 62H Elkhart and Burt Herrick Lead-pipes that I use all of the time...... mind even though the MV only goes in half way, it still plays really nice, what a Horn.....

Both the Ferguson L, and my L8 work fine, however I would like to use my K8 / LBK Cup set up going forward.
I'll contact Doug to check out my options...
