Lawler were pretty awesome, made in Florida. Pretty sure they're not around any more but they show up on ebay

I'm rather fond of the Olds R15 Recording - the prettiest trombone Olds ever made.
And it plays very nicely with the right mouthpiece (thanks Doug Elliott!).

The Olds Recording, Conn 6/48/24h, are great horns. I prefer the Getzen 3508 and Greenhoe GC2(?)

I like the Buescher 400, with those forward-slanted braces.

Never seen a Recording with a two-tone bell; maybe you're thinking of a Studio?

Not sure if you mean sound or looks. but just in looks I love the look of the Conn 44H line. Lovely design, even down to the spit valve. I would not mind if this type of aesthetics came back to more horns.

For quality and craftsmanship, is any horn The Dude's equal?

Just look at those solid-bar bell braces, and how shiny it is! Is it any wonder how many pros played it?

Getzen beat BAC to the punch!

Why haven't the Chinese factories taken the opportunity to bling up their instruments?
I don't think white gloves do the job.

Here's mine! And an FA Reynolds sterling bell next to it too engraved likely by the same master engraver!

Stunning indeed! True works of art - on a (mostly) utilitarian object. :good:
