Is this a thing now? Snarky Puppy has audiovisual recordings that had audience members in the recording space all wearing headphones. This group does this, too.

Then I'm assuming some kind of model like selling tickets to the session as a way to help subsidize it?

I mean, in that context it seems a lot like any other gig, except for the venue and the headphones thing. I would think that most recording studios don't actually have the space to integrate an audience like this.
