Hi All,
I wanted to share some frustration with my experience as a new member of Trombone Chat.
I joined Trombone Chat on April 1, 2026 (no, it was not an April Fools joke). I had heard good things about the site, that it was a place where a lot of good information about trombone topics could be found. I enjoyed reading the topics on several boards and looked forward to contributing.
Unfortunately, that hasn’t gone too well. Of the 6 posts I’ve made, only one has been reviewed (it was approved). One post (Kanstul 1588 - Thoughts) has been awaiting approval for over two weeks. Two others have been waiting several days. I can give details if desired.
I’m sure that the moderators and administrators of the boards are very busy. I know that this is a volunteer activity. I also understand that new member posts require approval to prevent bot or spam accounts from posting. Nevertheless, it’s really frustrating to have my posts wait for approval so long and have no one to contact. I don’t know if other recent new members have experienced this or had better luck than I have. If the latter, I would appreciate any advice on getting posts approved.
By the way, I noticed in the user control panel that I am a member of neither special group (Newly registered users and Registered users) managed by the board administrators. Perhaps this is why my posts are not being reviewed. If so, could someone tell me how to get the board administrators to assign me to a special group?

Re: New Member Frustration
Our most prolific (by far) moderator passed away a few months ago. I guess there's a bit of a vacuum.
I'd consider becoming a moderator, if the staff will have me. I've only been on TC a few years, but I was on TTF (and OTJF) as Steve McGovern for a decade or more. Does that give me any credibility?

Sorry about that. I look at a TC at least once every day but I don't check all topics to see if a new member has posted.
I think I approved all of your posts now.

Thanks for the information. I assume that you are talking about Bruce Guttman. He sounds like he was a wonderful guy.AtomicClock wrote: Fri Apr 17, 2026 10:13 am Our most prolific (by far) moderator passed away a few months ago. I guess there's a bit of a vacuum.
