Convert from Tuba

Post by KerryAbear »

I play second trombone in the local Civic Orchestra for about 5 years now. I play a Yamaha YBL-421G Bass Trombone. I’d like to get a tenor trombone, but I don’t have the budget for that right now. I would like to switch to a more suitable mouthpiece. I mainly use a Yamaha 58L that came with the trombone. I also use a Yamaha Douglas Yeo when playing low parts, but my high range is more difficult when I use that one. I also have a large bore Benge 6 1/2 AL-L and a Vincent Bach 3G that came with a euphonium. I’m not a fan of the 6 1/2 AL-L. I like the 3G, but it is in poor condition and would need to be replaced if I used it regularly.

What mouthpieces should I consider?

Another 3G wouldn't be out of place.

Another mouthpiece worth considering is a Schilke 57. According to Schilke:
"This model is an excellent choice For those who play both tenor and bass trombone."
I have both a Bach 3G and a Schilke 57 that I'd be willing to sell to you. Send me a message if you're interested.
