Identifying the year of a King 3B

Post by alberttrombone »

Can you help me identifying the year of my King 3B?

It's a King 2103 3B with a serial number in the bell 307067.

The "King Instrument Serial Numbers website" is just for the "concert" models?
Because I don't think that this trombone is from 1950-55...

Thanks!

The 2103 model number is decades after 1955.

Note (from your serial number link) that King apparently started over with serial numbers at 100,000 in ~1986.

But why is the manufacturing year important? Does the trombone play nicely? Are you happy with it?
If so, enjoy playing it.

That's an '80s or '90s horn, most likely. Do you have pictures?

If it’s marked as 2103, it was made after the UMI takeover of King in the early 80’s. If it was made in 1955, it would say “Concert” and HN White company, Cleveland Ohio.
1955 is the first year of production for the 3B.
