Conn Cork Barrel Springs

Post by wayne88ny »

Does anyone know where I can the springs that go into the cork barrels (AKA slide bumper springs) for the 1st generation Conn 88H? The Blessing B 88 springs would also work.

Can also make some out of some euphonium or baritone piston springs. Cut one in half and use one on each slide tube. Poke the single wound end into the felts/cork. Have to get it in square enough to be in a reasonable position and deep enough to stay there, obviously.

Cheers,

Yes, you can cut a regular euph bottom spring in half. Then you can bend the cut end slightly outward (not inward!), which is what holds it in place in the cork barrel.
