Slide Plating Repair in Philadelphia
I have a Yamaha YSL-651 that has had slide wear since I bought it, and I am now finally feeling like getting it fixed. What are some good places in Philly or the surrounding area that would be able to do it? Or do I have to ship the slide somewhere?

You're hoping to have the inner slide tubes replated? That is not something.moat shops will do, and will require full disassembly of the inner slide, removing the cork barrels, tenon, leadpipe, etc, stripping of the original chrome with muratic acid, buffing and prep of the slide tubes, and then sending them to be chrome plated which requires a reliable chrome plating shop that knows how to handle delicate tubes. Then the inner slide must be reassembled.
You're better off having the shop just order new inner tubes and having those installed.
Depending on how bad the plating wear is, the slide may be able to be brought to good playing condition without replacing the tubes.
Dillon Music in Woodbridge, NJ or Landress Brass in NY both do excellent brass work.

It's possible that YSL-354 tubes are the right length, if they fit it's worth a shot.
