Re: King Slide Compatibility
Has anyone modified a .525 slide (non-King) to fit a King 607F? I've got the horn, but it has the unfortunate restrictive leadpipe. I know that a 3B+ or Benge 175 slide would work, but there are not many out there. I saw that Aidan modified a 607 slide to accept another leadpipe, but it looked like a lot of work. Anybody try, say, a Yamaha .525 slide (with swapping of tenon, nut, etc)?
Or, is there any reliable way to tell the older 607 slide (with better leadpipe) from the newer, without a close-up examination?

Re: King Slide Compatibility
I'm a new member but I recognize a few names here from an old forum I used to be on years ago
-Was wondering, does king use the same leadpipes in a 607 and a 3bplus?
-Could a slide from a 607 be considered the same as a 3bplus?
So if I understand this correctly a 607 slide would work fine on a 3bf and effectively convert it to a 3bfplus?
Or is the neckpipe completely different?
Sorry if this has been answered earlier, I couldn't quite figure it out!

I think the 607 is not compatible with the 3b, only the 3b+.Rosstbn wrote: Wed Mar 26, 2025 8:49 am

And does anyone know if any tuning slides are compatible with the 3b+f?

Sorry for the necro. Glad I found this. I need to replace the slide on my King Tempo and this helped

Playing around a bit this morning and discovered by early 1970s Duo Gravis slide kind of fits on my early 1960s HN White King 1480. I'd say the tenon goes 1/2 way on and I can get some threads to grip. It plays in-tune (with the tuning slide out about an inch). Honestly it plays like a lighter Duo Gravis in a lot of ways (which would be great). Is there any "harm" to playing this combination?
I’m not a collector, I just have too many trombones….

Re: King Slide Compatibility
I have a 1480 that I modified when I replaced the slides to a straight .546 rather than the original dual bore .536./546. I use it as a big tenor.Briande wrote: Tue Nov 18, 2025 11:30 am Playing around a bit this morning and discovered by early 1970s Duo Gravis slide kind of fits on my early 1960s HN White King 1480. Great thread.
If you'd had a King 3B and a King3BF and one slide is better than the other would you play always with the same slide and be changing bells??

I'm looking for a 0.500 Silde to match with Benge175F. Can anyone recommend one?
