"Do you know my name?" And can you tell us anything about him?

That is obviously the jazz trombonist Mike Barone. He played with Dizzy at one point.

Great big band writer/arranger too! He had a big band that lasted until COVID. The charts were always great, and HARD. A great mental (and physical, for the brass players) workout doing one of his reading rehearsals at 10am! No part was safe...even 4th trumpet was a monster book.

Exceptionally good egg, I took some lessons with him when I lived in Munich in the early 2000s, I think you were the one who introduced me, Chris.

Really, you were the one who suggested I try a Rath, which I bought from a fellow Brit working for a music shop in Hamburg, if I recall correctly.

Makes it a bit tricky to track when someone doesn't follow the established game rules . . .

From what I can tell, this is the last photo in the direct chain from the OP. And I have no idea.

OK. I cheated and looked him up. William Cepeda. Thanks to Finetales for expanding my knowledge of trombonists. What is the name of this bass trombonist?

And Google AI has this! 😁😂

This image shows Australian documentary filmmaker John Darling (1946–2011) in a room full of audio equipment and records.
He is holding a record album for "The Nutcracker" conducted by Richard Bonynge.
The text on the left side of the image lists audio equipment brands such as Dokorder, McIntosh, Nakamichi, Soundcraftsmen, Sony, and Thorens.
A euphonium or similar brass instrument is visible on a stand between the shelves.

OK, time to drop a few hints. This image is cropped from a print advertisement for Audio Associates. It is over fifty years old, so from before times World Wide Web wise. My Google image search above obviously didn’t work well. This is not John Darling.

I seem to have stalled out Dana’s game. So here is the full page of the Audio Associates print ad and another trombonist to identify.

Interesting! Robert Kraft probably deserves his own thread. I know nothing about him and it's an interesting choice that he is referenced in that ad.
