Tim Higgins uses a cut Corp 42 bell.
I'd make sure your starting 42 bell is a thin one- I've had a couple 50 bells cut that were a bit too heavy, and they ended up being great players but tanky overall.

I personally do not think 1 piece bells work well when converted to screw bell. They become "stiff" and heavy, in my experience

I did it with a closed wrap 80s 42b. came out fine. I use it often.
