Conn 110H Leadpipe/Slide Options

Hello everyone! I was wondering if there were other slide options compared to the stock Conn 110H slide. I know a custom leadpipe setup could probably be made and adapted to take another system (press-fit, threaded, etc.), I would just need some guidance on how to go about that. If there are other slide options as well, whether it be Conn or another brand, any information about that would also be helpful. Thank you and happy holidays!

Getzen (not Edwards) slides will fit Conn basses, but may be a bit short (check tuning).

If you find a Conn B6262 slide (was, if not still is, stock on the current gen 62H basses) you can get threaded leadpipes for it (it came with three, labeled B, C, and D). Note that Getzen and Conn threads are different, whichever of these routes you decide to go.

Depending on its state, your tech may be able to pull the original pipe. This way, you can order press fit leadpipes. However, the risk here is the inner tube may be lost with the attempt, and you'll be out a slide until a new inner tube arrives.

I had the pipe pulled on a 112H I played for a while and used a Shires 2L as a press fit. It was miles and miles better than the original setup in every way.

The current slide setup just feels weird. I know I’m still a younger player, but the blow is not super consistent, especially compared to the school-owned 50B3 my friend plays on. I just want to experiment with other options to see what would work best for me. Thank you for the slide recommendations, and thank you Burgerbob for the leadpipe recommendation! What is a basic rundown of the materials used for leadpipes and how they affect playing from your guys’ views?

Brass Ark has a few descriptors for lead pipe materials about halfway down the page.

What specifically do you mean when you say that the blow isn't super consistent? There's a chance that the issue may not be solved by changing lead pipes.

The notes on it are decently loose to slot. On the Bach, using the same mouthpiece, everything slots solidly and the pitch is easier to center. I also want to experiment with different setups to dial in how the horn feels, since a leadpipe or slide is one of the easier things to change about a non-modular horn. I love how it sounds already, but I want to see what options there are to improve the playability from my perspective.

Honestly, I wouldn't get too in the weeds about it. I literally threw in a pipe I had sitting around and it was SO much better. Find a cheap used Shires 2 or Edwards 2 or what have you and it'll improve a lot.
