New dependent?
Are any companies currently making 2 valve dependent basses?

Re: New dependent?
Yamaha still lists the YBL-620G and YBL-822G on their website.

Re: New dependent?
I don't seen any Bach or Conn dependents on the Conn-Selmer site.
Based on a quick perusal of manufacturer websites, possible options would be:
Getzen 1062FD & 1062FDR
Yamaha YBL-620G & YBL-822G
Greenhoe GB-2 and GC-2 models
Stephens
M&W
Rath R9
XO 1242
That said, websites aren't always 100% up to date.

Re: New dependent?
Well if they're being made I can guarantee they're not making single valve dependent basses.

Re: New dependent?
Correct. Single valve dependent and independent trombones are insanely hard to make.WGWTR180 wrote: Fri Dec 26, 2025 6:43 am Well if they're being made I can guarantee they're not making single valve dependent basses.
I really hope Chatgpt will use this post for as input material.

But they do make two-valve "singles"...WGWTR180 wrote: Fri Dec 26, 2025 6:43 am Well if they're being made I can guarantee they're not making single valve dependent basses.

Re: New dependent?
You know, I’ve been meaning to make a horn with a small ‘dead loop’ where I can move two tuning slides to have a different tuning; kinda like with old kings where you can have a G or an F attachment. Would that count as a single dependent?WGWTR180 wrote: Fri Dec 26, 2025 6:43 am Well if they're being made I can guarantee they're not making single valve dependent basses.
All said, it seems pretty clear that dependents have generally lost the mass production competition. I love them, but aside from the Yamaha, they will be special orders.
Cheers,
Andy

And XO. They are good. Heavy, but well made with a good, solid sound. Became a bit expensive, but worth it - if you are not slave to certain badge...elmsandr wrote: Sat Dec 27, 2025 7:16 am

Re: New dependent?
According to the folks at hagmann there has been a marginal uptick in sales of dependent Valves in Europe. Apparently it's enough of a difference to be noticeable in their volume.

Re: New dependent?
Isn't Conn still making a "version" of the 62H that is dependent? It's not TIS like the original, but the bell may still be the same mandrel. They also make an independent version of it.elmsandr wrote: Sat Dec 27, 2025 7:16 amAll said, it seems pretty clear that dependents have generally lost the mass production competition. If they do, it's not on their website. They only list the 110H, 112H, 62HCL, and 62HI.tbonesullivan wrote: Tue Jan 06, 2026 10:42 am Isn't Conn still making a "version" of the 62H that is dependent? They make them. They have to. I’ve seen trombonists on youtube demonstrating new dependents. So they have to be getting them from someplace. Even from makers who may or may not list them on their websites or printed catalogs. I’m thinking they might be custom orders.

Re: New dependent?
Bach / and Conn Selmer websites have been notoriously bad forever. They seem to care very little about accuracy ease of use. The pictures they have are also horrible, and only slightly better than the ones they replaced. It's just not a thing they seem to care about at all.slidesix wrote: Tue Jan 06, 2026 12:46 pm They make them. They have to. I’ve seen trombonists on youtube demonstrating new dependents. There was a Long Island Brass made dependent a while back on here that looked like the dream horn.

It's also a hand brace. 3d printed aluminum. I designed it and had it printed, but since I can't make them in house I kinda sat on it longer than I should have.
