Need mouthpiece advice please
I’m in the process of buying a late 1970s model King 2B Professional valve trombone that does not come with a mouthpiece. I currently play a Yamaha YSL-354 with a Blessing 12 C mouthpiece (but because of an injury cannot any longer play a slide trombone). Can I continue to use my existing mouthpiece with the new horn or do I need a new mouthpiece? If I need a new one, what recommendations would you make?

So I have been playing my King 2B now for several months with the Blessing 12C mouthpiece but I’m now wondering if I’ll get a better tone (for this particular horn) with a different mouthpiece. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I played a 2B and a King Tempo 1305 for a bit. I liked to use a Wick 7cs. It’s more shallow than a Bach 6 1/2 but the tone felt a lot more…full?…than a 12c.
Wick mouthpieces don’t seem to be for everyone though. The rim shape is…unique. If you’re interested I’d try to test one out or at least find a cheap 2nd hand piece before committing.

I have a 2B valve trombone and I’ve found that it likes a deeper cup. If you like your 12C, try a 12. Deeper cup same rim

Sorry about your injury.
To reassure you, the Blessing 12C mouthpiece will work just fine with the King 2B valve trombone. If you were comfortable with it on the Yamaha YSL-354, there's no reason to change.
Many of us, however, have determined that we play slightly better on a somewhat larger diameter mouthpiece cup (partially due to our lip and jaw anatomy). There are many options (from Bach, Doug Elliott, Marcinkiewicz, Schilke, Stork, Wick, Yamaha, and others) if this turns out to be the case for you. If so, though, you may drop down a "rabbit hole" in your search for a "better" mouthpiece. I recommend against this ultimately frustrating pursuit.

Re: Need mouthpiece advice please
I have no 2B with valves but I have a 3B with valves. I also have several straight 2B, 2B+ and 3B with slides and also a 3B with F-attachment. I do like the 2B's a lot and also favor smaller mouthpieces such as the size you currently use. For years I used a Benge 12C with the 2B and 3B and liked the sound and how they played. About 10 years ago I changed to a Bach 11C mostly because I started to double more on larger horns. I found the Bach 11C be easier to combine with a mouthpiece as Hammond 12M or MXL and 1 1/4 sized bass trombone mouthpieces. The times I've picked up the valve-section to use with my 3B I did not use those small mouthpieces, 12C or 11C. I thought a 6 1/2 AL was a much better match. It opened up the horn when it had the valves but I never felt that necessary when it had the slide. Maybe you should try a tad deeper mouthpiece

Stork T1, T2 or T3. The T3 is comparable with the 11C. See below.
