Colin Williams setup when he played in Atlanta?

Post by solidshi8 »

What setup did Colin Williams use during his time with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra? It looks like an axial valve Shires. :hi:

I think he got the job with an Edwards. The first few Shires combinations he played had axial valves. I think the bell started as a 7Y, then at some point he went to a 7YLW. I think his signature model as it stands now, which has a rotary valve and some version of a 2YLW bell, was developed towards the end of his time in Atlanta.

Thanks! What I'm quite curious about is which setup he used back in 2009—specifically the one featured in the video below. It sounds like a light weight bell to me.

Why don’t you try contacting Christian at Edwards? They probably have a record of what he played.

I'm sure you're right. It was probably a 7YLW at that point.
