Hakan is certainly not unknown, but maybe a little less appreciated than he should be!
I just came across this recording of Cogent Caprice which is REALLY nice:
What I really love about Hakan's playing is on the one hand of course his technical capabilities, but even more his really musical driven style. His playing has something special in my opinion! He simply doesn't sound like "a really good version of everyone else".
I also had the pleasure of having had an online lesson with Hakan around 2 years ago. He is a really nice and approachable person, who encouraged me to experiment with some aspects of my playing that continue to be a great addition to my toolbox.

Re: Hakan Björkman
Håkan Björkman is a very good trombonist and friend. Very technical. He can do anything on the trombone.

Re: Hakan Björkman
I had the pleasure to have had Håkan as a teacher during one week under the Danisch-German brass course heldt in Sønderborg some 10 or 12 years ago. He is an astonishing teacher too, focused on developing his pupils, and passing a bit of magic stardust of musicality to each of them, no matter how advanced we where. And he is very sharp on explaining technicalities in easy words.
One of the things that fascinated me that he was then playing a medium bore Yamaha, which he could color dark and fat in timbre as well as light and shiny as a sunray.
I learned to approach the trombone more easy going then, and have benefitted from his teaching ever since. Truly a remarkable trombonist!
PS next time we had Jens Bjørn-Larsen teaching tuba there, also Creme de la creme ....
