Softone - size?
Which size softone works best for a 3B (8 in bell)? I'm seeing some sites saying small for 7 1/2 - 8" and some say large for 8 - 8 1/2".

I'd use the large. I actually use a bass one on my 3B when I've needed a bucket with no problems.

Thanks, Aiden. I've also been using my bass one on it, but thought it was about time to get one that actually fit as it's been getting a lot of use lately. Still easier than dealing with the old H&B though.

Same. If you think you’ll ever use it one something larger than 8 inches, buy a bigger size. I use my bass size on my 8” and 8.5” bells.

I use the larger of the tenor options on my 8'' bell smallbores as I wanted to buy only one for small and large bore. Works fine. I hate the weight/imbalance that mutes normally create, so the Softone mutes are great.
