From 1973 thru about 20, 25 years I played Conns. Mostly 78H`s and 32H`s.
I had an 88`s and an Incredible 8H but not really my jam.
Then I switched completely to Bachs.. Love them. Love the sound , the feel and when you get the right one
(Which I have a number of occasions) it`s magic.
Right now I have 2 12G`s, Mount Vernon 36, 42BO and a 50B3
I bought a New York 16 not to long ago and this thing plays !!!!!
I thought I was done. I`ve never played a small bore horn that plays like the NY16.
Well.............................................
Last week one of the guys in my weekly Big Band gig brought in a Conn 32H.
We all tried it to mixed reviews . However, Having owned 3 of these in the past, I came Home.
Suddenly I was dancing with an old girl friend that I have missed.
He didn`t like it and asked would any of us be interested?
YES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Suffering from IAS (Instrument Acquisition Syndrome) isn`t easy but sometimes you come across the right one.

Great story! IAS is manageable when you’re picking up old Conns and other classic American models at affordable prices. That is my speed these days. I have a similar ish story:

15 years ago I played a King 3B+F that Scott Sweeney fixed up for me. I sold it over a decade ago when I found a magic 36B (which I still have). A few months ago I took a chance on a cheap, beat up Benge 175F (very similar specs) which I also sent to Sweeney to fix up. Just got it back from him and I feel like I’m in my early 20s again I realllyyyy love this horn
