I saw this a few days ago, and haven't seen it here.
Cristian Ganicenco, the Principal Trombone of the Cincinnati Symphony passed away recently after a battle with cancer.
I didn't really know him - we met at an audition once and chatted a bit. Then later, we ended up on the same light rail train car heading to the airport and spoke some more and grabbed a quick lunch in the airport food court before heading to our respective flights. He was a nice man. Later I purchased his CD - "Beyond Oblivion". What a fine player! Beautiful, elegant playing! There are some really good overdubs of him online from the covid years - he was a terrific Euphonium and Bass Trumpet player too.
I was sorry to hear this news - he was too young for this. My condolences to his family and his colleagues in Cincinnati.

Re: RIP - Cristian Ganicenco
Thanks for posting, Jim. Cristian has been a friend since we met almost 25yrs ago. Have subbed in each other's orchestras on several occasions over the years. Great trombonist, fine musician, and good friend. He was taken from us all far too young. He fought cancer with the same courage and determination that he used to stand up to every challenge be it trombone related or the Romanian Revolution. He will be missed.
