Shires with Bach tuning slide
Has anybody mated a shires bass bell with a Bach 50 tuning slide? I'm curious how they would pair up and play compared to a shires tuning slide.

Re: Shires with Bach tuning slide
They do not fit together, different sizes. And Bach tuning slides aren’t reversed like a shires valve section is, so there’s a lot of modification needed. Usually people do the opposite and mod a Bach bell to fit on a Shires valve section, not sure if anyone’s done the opposite. Your easier move is to use a TX shires tuning slide for the same Bach-style taper

What they said.
On large tenor a TX tuning slide is meant to replicate the taper of a Bach 36/42 tuning slide. On bass the B taper is more like a Bach 50 than the C.
