Modular Instrument Nuts/Screws

Post by BPBasso »

Those with modular horns, how often do you pay any attention to the (hand tightened?) screws or nuts holding the bell/valves together? I've always hand tightened all of mine, as to not damage the brass threads.
What's your opinion about them - touch them as little as possible? Or, loosen & retighten them occasionally/daily?
What has your tech/manufacturer recommended?

Red Loctite, pliers, and never worry about it? :amazed:

Don't use red Loctite®; it's a serious pain if you ever have to take it apart again (you'd probably have to torch it). Even blue is stronger than you need. I'd use the purple stuff (Loctite® 222).

Regualarly checking as hand-tightened should do it.
