Music and DJ shop--legit?

Post by RobL »

I'm seeing some unrealistically low prices for trombones on musicdjshop [dot] com. I assume it's a scam but would be interested to know if TChat members have purchased from it successfully.

I am confused.
Musicdj.com is a Website for Black Tie Entertainment - DJs for Weddings, etc. in Washington D.C. area.
Nothing there about trombones for sale.

It has to be bait and switch. Terms and agreement allow them to change price upon availability. Big band charts about a third of regular price. If it seems to good to be true …

ICANN and WHOIS lookups show the domain was created 4/23/2025 and is registered with a mailing address in Reykjavik, Iceland; specifically Kalkofnsvegur 2, Reykjavik, Capital Region, 101. An internet search of that address yields "The address Kalkofnsvegur 2, Reykjavik, Capital Region, 101, Iceland, is associated with multiple domain registrations and online scams. This address is listed as the registrant and administrative contact for numerous domains, including agiftcustomized.com, dotnetpark.com, 1minutepay.com, desktop-signal.digital, flowertech-usa.com, and others."

So yeah...scam.

There is also an interesting fact about one of the other tenants in that particular building that is quite amusing if you want to look for it.

If it's too good to be true, it isn't. I fell for one of these fake websites. Had to do a chargeback on my credit card. The scammers actually came up with a fake shipping receipt and sent it to the credit card company. I ended up winning, but not after a lot of work to prove they were scammers. Fortunately I had taken a screenshot of the transaction, because they didn't send any kind of confirmation. They tend to get a domain name that is similar to a legitimate site but slightly different, sometimes with one letter misspelled or a hyphen inserted somewhere.
