A question regarding independent axials

Post by Ramhorn »

Hello, this is a question for repair techs or folks who may have this particular set-up on their horns. In an independent axial valve section, is it possible to cut enough of the second valve slide/tubing to be able to tune it to G/Eb?. I know that Edwards offers this option however, the slide is shaped a little different. I've also seen the Shires Bollinger model and I don't know if you could cut enough to make G/Eb but I admit that I dont know how much tubing you would have to cut. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Need a smaller diameter crook like the B454V to get to G.

Not hard, just a different part. You cannot trim the length of a standard Gb valve to get to G without a smaller crook.

A Gb attachment is like 28” total length. A G attachment is ~20-21” or so. If the crook on your factory Gb is small enough and you have enough straight tubing, maybe. But you probably need a smaller diameter crook for most modern open wraps. Plenty available out there, but let your tech choose something they are comfortable with.

Andy
