Hi Everyone
I am playing an arrangement of MARIE that calls for a "Fibre Mute". I am not sure what mute to play.
Thanks
Randy

Re: Mute question
A Fibre Mute generally referred to a mute made from pressed papier maché. Best choice today would be a Stone Line or Ray Robinson straight mute.
If you are doing the Dorsey solo you might want to look into a Clear Tone (Humes & Berg) since Dorsey used something called a Solotone that is no longer made.

Re: Mute question
Trumcore makes a very good "Vintage Tone" solo tone mute

Re: Mute question
Thank you. I have a H&B solotone and straight mute. I will probably go with the straight mute because everyone in the section has one.
Thanks

Re: Mute question
If it's a solo, then "everyone in the section has one" doesn't matter. Bring them both.

Re: Mute question
Don't forget about the Peter Gane straight mute. It's the right kind. I like that me better than the H&B.
They make a better version of the bucket mute, too, FWIW.
