DIY brushed finish

Post by HaidenChase07 »

I found a F.E Olds & Sons T-15 “Brilliant Bell” small bore trombone and I thought the nickel silver bell would look great against brushed brass so I made my first attempt at refinishing. I think it turned out pretty well and I wanna show it off and see what everyone thinks.Image

For some reason your link doesn't want to load. Can you try storing your picture somewhere else?

The OP used the url of an iCloud page rather than the image itself.

Try this link:

The contrast between the brushed brass and the polished nickel looks pretty good.

Thank you. I’m just starting college this year as a performance major and I’ve always loved repair and modification so this is my first project trombone.

Very nice, any pictures of the whole bell section? How did you do it? That line is so clean!

I have a delacquered King 606 bell that I want to do something to. I do not mind removing some metal as I just want it to look good, and I do not really play it.

I used strips of 400 grit fabric backed sandpaper to scratch it while I had it attached to my dads bike repair stand.

Did you just tape off the shiny part of the bell?...
Just searched up that bell, did not realize that bell comes as two colours.

Yes I taped that part off. Taping was difficult because I had to use so many pieces of tape, as the flare made it impossible to use one piece.
