I'm in Los Angeles today. Was wondering if there's a place, a brick and mortar store, where I could play a bunch of horns and buy one if I found a great one. Could be new or used. Various brands, but I'm always a Bach fan.
Any suggestions?
Is there still a store in L.A. that has a bunch of trombones in stock?

Where in LA? The Horn Guys are in Pasadena if you are in east L.A.

Horn Guys (https://hornguys.com/) in Pasadena. Call ahead; it's not exactly a retail store.
Brass Ark (https://brassark.com/) in La Crescenta. Also call ahead; hours by appointment. Noah used to really focus on vintage gear, but he's branched out into new stuff more recently. Stevens, M&W, O'Malley, etc..
Other than that? Not much that I know of.

Thanks you two!
Oh, I thought Horn Guys was strictly online now. And didn't they used to be in Long Beach or something?

They used to be up in La Crescenta; they moved to Pasadena in 2019 or thereabouts. There was a second store in Long Beach for a little while.tbdana wrote: Wed Jun 11, 2025 8:57 am Thanks you two!

Like I said - it's not exactly a retail store. Call ahead.

I don't think (?) you'll find in the Los Angeles area a music store with a (reasonably) broad line of professional-level trombones such as the Schmitt Music Trombone Shop in Bloomington, Minnesota.
Noah Gladstone's Brass Ark and Steve Ferguson's Horn Guys are our local, but smaller-scale, treasures here in Southern California.
