Ordering Yamaha parts

I dunno if this is more appropriate here or in Modification/Repair, but...

I am aware of what seem to be 2 sources to look for Yamaha parts:

• https://parts-search.yamaha.co.jp/html/ ... /index.php

24x7 has consumer (non-dealer) access and I believe individuals can order parts directly, though I haven't tried. Parts-search seems to be limited to dealer access as one can click the Order link but have to put in dealer info to even see the cart.

Parts-search appears to have a part available that I'm looking for (there is an Order link so I assume it can be acquired) but it doesn't even show up in the 24x7 consumer portal.

Does anyone know if one of these is more accurate than the other? I provided the info from parts-search (where it looked like you can order it) to a tech and was told it was not available. I'm confused. Does this mean that just because it has an Order link on parts-search, that doesn't necessarily mean you can order it?

Any info would be appreciated.

I have ordered parts through Yamaha Thailand using info from the Part Search web. It should be accurate.

Which part are you going to order? Some parts are obsolete and have replacement parts.

THIS. And often you have to click to view that part to see the replacement part. And even then sometimes it isn't always noted.

I run a small shop out of my home as a side job. When I order parts for Yamaha horns, I cannot order directly from Yamaha because I am not a retail store for Yamaha instruments. Thus, I must go to a music store that is a Yamaha dealer to get my parts. However, not all Yamaha dealers are considered to be the same by Yamaha. Our local small music store in town is a Yamaha dealer, but they are not able to get the parts I need, probably because they only sell a few dozen Yamaha instruments per year.

The larger retailers in my area (Music & Arts and Chuck Levin’s Washington Music Center) are able to get any Yamaha part that I request because they sell Yamaha orchestral instruments by the hundreds every year. I have always used the parts search engine that listed in your original post.

It should be noted that I have never been able to find that Yamaha parts list using a Google search. I have always found the list I sing a Bing search.

Another problem with Yamaha is that many of their parts are brazed together with other parts. For example, you cannot just buy a slide lock nut for a bass trombone. The lock nut is attached to the slide receiver, the bell brace and the saddles for the triggers are also brazed on. Thus, if you want just one part that should be $25, it ends up being a combination of parts that is $225. It can be a major pain.

I've bought Yamaha parts from Mouthpieceexpress.com before. They have nice graphics so you can find your parts too.

Thanks for that info Brian. That may be the reason my guy can't get them. He runs a shop out of his house part time. There's a couple of Music & Arts stores in my area. I may give that a shot.

I think the part I'm looking for (a tuning slide) can be obtained fully assembled and sans extraneous pieces.

I am also having no issues putting small parts into my cart. I have noticed that in the past few months Yamaha has been giving new part numbers to a lot of the linkage parts.

Now if only they had a good diagram of how the "SCREW ROCK SPRING YHR85V.85VD" E7540970 and the "HR85V LEVER HINGE FEMALE SCREW" W3238910 are replaced with trying to stop noise from the LINKAGE CROSS ARM YBL630G D2541210, which is worn on one of my horns.
