I'm sure some people here knew him.
His last gig was bass trombone San Diego Symphony.

What a tragedy. I never met Mr. Priddy but his passing felt rather close as I had followed his playing career for years.

He went to the same school I went to (years later), subbed in the same groups in the region as I did and his first full time job was the job I am currently holding.
His playing was fantastic and I wish I could have find more solo playing of his. I know the "Eaglehawk" the Albany label, which is amazing. If anyone happens to know where to find more recordings of his playing, I would love to see this.

I heard Michael play in a brass quintet a year before he got the job in San Diego, one of the best Bass Trombone players I’ve ever heard.
When he got the job in San Diego, I knew many of the committee members, and they said it was no question. He was absolutely the best player for the job. I took a lesson with him and he did help my slide technique a lot.
A few times I played with him in different groups. He sounded great and we got along together quite well. About a year after he got the job I heard that he was having emotional and possibly mental issues. He took a leave of absence and his position was replaced soon after.
I really liked the guy and I am sorry for the loss to his family and to the musical community he belonged . A really nice man, a great trombonist.
