Most trombones are sold with a mouthpiece. Wich of those mpcs will you keep for sure?

I recently bought a pair of Kühnl & Hoyer Bolero mpc, the 6.4 and the 6.8 that give me all I want from my 88H and 8H (Kind of Benge Marcellus, I think, by the specs...)
Those are keepers, for sure !
The Bolero trombones are sold with a 6.4 (Thomann source of info)

Others than those :
- King 6.5 AL (small shank) (post UMI era, Wick style blank) ;
- Conn 3 (different flavors of) ;
- Conn Connstellation 3B ;
- Blessing 6.5 AL (large shank) (Best 6.5 AL I ever had) ;
- Bach 6.5 A (large shank) (Bach 42 were sold with this mpc) ;
- Benge 1 1/2 G

I aso find it interesting to keep those as a base of comparison to test other mpcs with the instrument they where sold with... Especially my Constellation 3B with my Conn 71H...

I got a Shires Vintage 4G with a trombone purchase almost ten years ago, I tried selling it a couple of times but there were no takers. It's a very good mouthpiece but not the right size for me. So I guess I'm keeping it.

I only bought two new trombones, but I purchased or got with used trombones some original mpcs sold w/ new bones... maybe because "they don't worth anything", isn't it Aidan?

My King 6.5 AL, I bought it straight from Steinway Musical Instrument, lol !
I know at least one pro who uses the King 7C as his main mpc...

My Conn 36H alto came with a Conn 7C mouthpiece. This is the only mouthpiece that lines up the partials on this horn. Not even a genuine Bach 7C works the same. I don't like the fit for me, so I use my own [larger] setup and deal with the altered partials. But that 7C is staying with the horn.

Probably the Yamaha 59. It's not the biggest mouthpiece or the best but it works well with a lot of horns, and is perfect for an "emergency mouthpiece" to keep in my bag of tricks.

Really? New or used, this is not my experience. I'd say less than half of the time, a mouthpiece is included.

Too small for bass bone ... The Yammie 59 works quite fine on my Yamaha custom euph ... also the Yamaha 58 is fine on euph ..

Actually, I only keep the original mouthpieces to have them in a selling situation again. This goes for Yamaha 51B, Bach 6 1/2 AL, Yamaha 48, Conn 5 GR etc. They tend to be fine got-to-the-first-time mouthpieces for me, but most often the instrument wants a bigger one.

Usually, I end using mouthpieces larger than these ... Yeo is my emergency-fall-back on bass, for example, but it's GB 1 1/4 or 1 5/8 in daily usage. Similar for large bore and small bore tenor bone.

It is my impression as well, that they tend to favor first easy going use of the instrument.

My YSL-682G did come with a Yamaha 51B 35 years ago. At that time it was the top nutch prof large bore. It served me well, I sold it last year because I got a used YSL-682B with the Bousfield valve.

Today the Xenos come with Yamaha 51C4 L, which is a better fit, but still smaller than a Schilke 51C4.

And the intermediate and advanced large bore YSL-448 and YSL-5?? Allegro come with a Yamaha 48 L, which is definitely smallish, and about ease for the first go-to.

Woaw, the 682B, I tried it at the Frankfurter Musikmesse in 1999, and loved it, but I already purchased a King 4BF two years before, my bad... Do you have enough clearance for your neck with that valve? I don't remember the ergonomics of it... (I digress, I know...)
