Which Warburton Backbore Size for 0.508" Bore?

Post by Arendsdale »

Hi All,

I currently play a Warburton 9ST with a ST1* backbore on my Bach 42. I have a 11D rim that I plan on using for my 0.508" bore Yamaha 891z, but I'm not sure what size backbore I should use. Any advice would be appreciated!

In my experience it’s best to try a few and see what matches well with your top, but a 3 & 4 and 3* and 4* would be my suggestions. On my Shires MD+ (more open than a 891z) with a 10D and 8D top, I liked how a 4* blew, but preferred the more centred core sound and projection of the standard T4.

You should try them back to back. The right one should give you a focused sound with the right balance of resistance and free-blowing.

My favorite Backbore is a 3Star. It works well in my 891ZD
