New Member - My Home Recordings Conn 70H

Post by TheConnArtist70H »

I finally decided after reading hundreds of posts, it was time time for me to become a member of this very interesting forum. I'm a semi-retired Bass Trombonist based in the UK. I also plucked up the courage and created a YouTube channel to share some of my home recordings on my Old battered Conn 70H Bass. This is one of my recordings of Beauty and the Beast, the backing George Roberts used many times. I had to play this from memory ( No music ) in one take ( very stressful indeed ) :o

There are plenty more on my YouTube Channel if you dare to venture.

I hope you may find this of interest. Pressing the submit button Now....

Thanks, Al

Wonderful!! Big welcome! I have listen you before. You contacted me some time ago. It's so many incredible fantastic trombone players and music out there now. It really is! But so glad to see it's not only me who adore George Roberts. And that old legendary Conn 70h. :good:

Thanks for the kind words Leif, Markus and Dana, it's means a Lot. Yes Leif, I must confess to being kinda addicted to my old 70H, there is something very special about these Old Conns that I Love. Actually Leif, it was your YouTube channel that got me started so a big thank you, and I will continue, just needing ideas to pop into my head, I've got a few ideas in the pipeline. I've actually just added this one to my Channel, something a little different ! Oh the humble English Brass Band sound, so unique.

You really have a "George Roberts touch" to your style! I never got that touch in my own playing even if I tried. About brass bands I always adore one instrument that make it shine. The Eb-cornet. And of course the bass trombone that often has challenging parts.

Look forward to more Alan! :good: And thanks MStarke, it means something what you say!

Lately I have listen a lot to Jeff Reynolds two LP's. There is an interview with him out there now. He had some stories about George Roberts. Jeff Reynolds LP "the big trombone" is really fantastic. And the first that came out.

Such great horns. I let one slip through my hands years ago. Wish I still had it!
