Trombone duo recordings

Post by PeterDahlgren »

Hi all, looking for jazz duo recordings by trombonists + another instrument. I found an interesting one by Albert Mangelsdorff and Lee Konitz called "Art of the duo".

I know J.J. did a record with Joe Pass. Any other suggestions?

Bob Brookmeyer & Jim Hall - Live at North Sea
Bob Brookmeyer & Mads Vinding
Albert Mangelsdorff and his friends (album with different duo line-ups including Don Cherry, Elvin Jones....)
Nils Wogram - Housewarming (with pianist Bojan Z)
Nils Wogram - Freies Geröll (with guitarist Joe Sachse)

There's also a recording of George Lewis with a sax player. I think Anthony Braxton. But not 100% sure.

Art of the Duo is an incredible album as nearly every Mangelsdorff record.

I'm going to release a duo record with vibraphone next year. We recorded this a month or two ago, really happy with the results, looking forward to the release.

Search your preferred streaming music service for "Carl Fontana Live at the Royal Palms Inn" and you'll find several albums of Fontana playing duos with trumpet players Buddy Childers, Conte Candoli, and Steve Huffsteter.

Thanks! I meant duos with only two musicians, but this is really great stuff!

Hi Peter!

This track of Jiggs Whigham and John Clayton came to mind immediately. Doug Elliott introduced me to this CD.

Best regards,

This is a duo with drummer Dan Weiss that I did on my first record, Abstracts, 2005.
