Trumpet mouthpiece for trombonists

Post by NickHomes »

Hello, any trumpet mouthpiece recommendation for trombonists who want to get started in the world of trumpet? Thanks!
PS. I play with a Greg Black 4.5gs.

Put the trumpet down & pick up a trombone!😀
Am I a trombone player who plays euphonium, or a euphonium player who plays trombone? :idk:

As a player that plays both horns, I would say you can’t really base what mouthpiece you use for one horn as a starting point for another. The horns play different, they sit different on your face, so my advice would be play a few trumpet mouthpieces and see what works best for you. I’ve even found the same mouthpiece doesn’t always work in a different horn trumpet wise for me.

This thread is a bit old, but I'd just try some normal trumpet sizes like Bach 3-5 and pick from that. If you're taking lessons, your teacher can steer you from there.
