What oil have you been using? Is this a 42T or a 42AF with the Infinity valve?

For my Ed Thayer aluminum core valves… I use a decent oil I can get in quantity. Usually Al Cass. And then a good thicker oil on the linkage.

Most Thayers are thirsty, I’m not interested in paying millions for action that isn’t measurably better.

I really like Ultra-Pure Ultra-Light Valve Oil for mine. Usually only have to apply it once a week (combined with some Hetman's on the linkage and springs), and I generally play every day. Makes the action much smoother and faster. I've converted a few other folks as well! Haven't tried their other products but willing to bet they would work similarly well.

I use the blue “Spacefiller” bottle on all of my trombone valves (Shires OE Thayer, double Hagmanns, and a 3BF). Maybe I’ll try out Ultra Pure once I run out.

I use Al Cass on my valves for inside the casing and a heavier key oil for the spindles.

Consistency is the key!!!
