Cork barrel

Post by icelandarp »

Does the cork barrel contain a cork washer inside? If so, is there a way to fix it a home? I ask because when I pull the slide to 1st position and turn the slide lock, there is some play in the slide.

I guess another to put it is: is this normal?

Thanks!

Yeah, there is a little piece of cork, or potentially something else like felt or even string that goes around the slide to cushion the outer slide when it's locked. Ideally there should not be any play when locked, but sometimes there's a little wiggle room. No more than a millimeter or two. You can buy cork or felt for that purpose, or you can wind cotton string up in there.

I'm a little late... but I just bought a sheet of craft felt at Wal Mart and cut circles out of it. I'm not sure it will last as long, but I didn't use very much of the sheet...
