I have two Trombones and a Trumpet. Trombones include a Yamaha YSL-354 and an Elkhart Cavalier. The Trumpet is a very old East-European stencil horn.

Including "coming soon"...

- Markus Leuchter: Tenor Sackbut (Van der Heide)
- Markus Leuchter: Bass Sackbut (Van der Heide)
- Kurt Scherzer: Quartposaune (Schmidt TP3-1/2A, TBP5W)
- Hawkes & Son: The Cabaret (H.N. White 19)
- Kanstul: KSL-750 (Wick 9BS)
- Yamaha: YSL-350C (Wick 6BS)
- Yamaha: YSL-548G (Wick 5ABL)
- Holton: TR183 (Wick 1AL)

That makes 8 total. In time, I'd love to have classical tenor and bass trombones, a slide trumpet (the historical kind), and an ophicleide.

If you look at my Profile I have most of them listed.

Maestrohound, if you are serious about an Ophicleide, look at Wessex Tubas. They have one at a very reasonable price.  Rather than spending a small fortune on a 150 year old one.

It would be great if you could do a review of the Getzen, using the Conns as a reference point.

Lots of "vintage" out there! (Maybe just a bunch of old players)  Image

Me - Pretty basic:

Getzen 725 for 75% of all my playing instead of a straight .547 most of the time
Conn 6H (alto bone parts and jazz/dance band)
Friedman Holton TR 156 screw bell for blowing laser beams through the conductor to the back of the auditorium for those pieces requiring the cannon effect  Image .

Would like a bass bone and a straight .547, but got no dinero  Image

Been away from the Forum for quite a while.   Was doing some research and found this interesting.

1.  Conn 24H Silverplated 1942 (main gig horn)
2.  Conn 24H Silverplated 1932 (back-up horn, needed it recently when I caught a cup mute to the slide--self inflicted)
3.  Conn 88H Silverplated 1955 w/Bach Taper removable leadpipe (main all other legit playing, all-around bad-ass horn)
4.  Conn 2H Silverplated 1917 (historic and for nostalgia, plays well, but stays in case)
5.  Conn 4H Artist with LW Slide 1953
6.  Couesnon Valve Bone Section coupled with a 1950s Conn Coprion Bell Section
7.  Conn Shepard's Crook Cornet 1963
8.  King 2B Liberty 1953 (Sweet sounding lead horn)
9.  Conn Mellophonium 1967 (Just had to have it.  Big Stan Kenton Fan.  Fun to play!)

Use a Todd Clontz Component Mouthpiece for most of the Conns
A Curry 5M and 6M for the King
Bach 5G & 2G for the 88H

That is all and most definitely enough. Image

My list has changed substantially since I listed mine:

1. Bach 50b3 - 1982
2. Conn 88h - 1968
3. Conn 8ht w/SL2525 slide - 2003
4. Conn 79h silver plate - 1968
5. Conn 10h - 1954
6. Conn 6h bell only - 1957
7. Schiller (jinbao) alto

I really consider the 8h and the 88h as a single horn. If it were a modular horn, it would be. Also consider the 10h and 6h as a single bone with an optional bell. This is after a big consolodation. I realized that I didn't need or even play all the trombones I had. So I focused on getting stuff that I wanted and would play in each size I thought I would use at least a couple times a year.

I also have a 1965 3b, but don't count it because it's for sale, and I just feel it in my bones that someone is going to buy this thing soon. http://tromboneforum.org/index.php/topic,83211.0.html

TOO MANY.

Kanstul 1570CR (my only f-attachment tenor now, beat the Shires and Edwards I owned for the number one slot)
1960s Selmer Largo
1955-ish Martin Committee
1967 Olds Recording
1939 King Liberty (not 2B)

I don't even play in public. I think I'm starting to be a hoarder.

I feel like a sissy compared to some of you guys. I have had as many as 4 bones, but am currently at 3.

King 2103 (3b) that I got about a year ago. I love this horn for playing lead in our local big band. I got a Warburton 7m mouthpiece for it and it really sings.

And I have an Edwards with all the pieces to build 2 complete horns. I have a .547 slide, a .525 slide, an 8" bell, an 81/2" bell, a valve section, straight neck pipe, and 2 tuning slides. I usually play it as a .525 horn with the 8" bell and valve.

And I have a Willson ,2704 non-compensating euphonium.

One of these days I want to get a small tuba and a small bore horn with a valve. And maybe a 2b. But money is a limiting factor. If I had tons if it, I would probably own 10 trombones, 2 or 3 euphs, a tuba, a bass trumpet, and 5 mountain bikes.

Bach 42BO T-Bone
Getzen 1052FD Bass T-Bone (I play this almost exclusively these days)
Yamaha 321S Euphonium  (Play @ Tuba Christmas)
St. Petersburg 209N CC Tuba (Play in American Legion Band, some traditional/dixieland style for pay occasionally)

(Others I have recently sold, 1982 King 3B, 1965 Conn 18H w/Cuprion Bell, 2006 Yamaha 830 Xeno Bass

Weril Gagliardi II Alto
Weltklang Alto
Rath R1
Conn 74H
Conn 88HTO
Holton TR181

Other instruments
Besson Sovereign Euphonium
Cerveny Eb Tuba

All trombones get played regularly except the Weltklang and the 74H.  The Weltklang slide is simply aweful and I have access to a friends 78H which I use instead of the 74H. The Euphonium and Tuba only come out on rare occasions, tuba mainly in the theatre bands and the Euph for the odd Planets or Bydlo

Ok, I'll play....
Olds Balanced action (1928)
Olds Special (1954)
Olds Ambassador (1954)
(I dont use these much but they are all nice for what they are)
1960 Conn Constellation with lots of repairs and a med heavy slide (I use this a lot, and it looks it Image )
Pan American frankenbone with a 500 bore slide (spare for the 48H)
Early 80's TR258 made to be convertable with a straight neckpipe, spare TR158 bell, and a 525 slide (actually two separate horns.)
A Bb/F/G/Eb modular  Franken-bass. Based on a Yamaha 612 bell converted to a screw bell and a very modified 72H slide I have been using since 1978....
This is my "main" bass In spite of its quirks it's a nice player. Has a single valve section - the original red brass soldered rim bell flare and a brass unsoldered rim 10.5" bell flare from a 50Bl bell. Parts exist for at least one complete horn, the time to build it does not right now...
YBL 613H bought as a spare, great slide, great valves, good deal.
Mack Brass Euphonium, cheap, but it paid for itself.
Mack Brass Tuba... the Chinese are catching up Image
Several large boxes of bundy trombone and trumpet parts, (Ugh) and a crushed Conn 20I baritone I scavenged for the valves... (yet another project....)

Hi Maestro.  Do you use your Scherzer as both tenor and bass, with the respective mouthpieces?  Does it work well in both roles?  (I have a Piering Bb/F from maybe around 1900.  After a couple of recommendations, I recently got a Schmidt TP 3¾, which I like, and I’m also trying to add a TBP5W, which would give me a similar setup.)

OK, acquired two more recently, so...

King 2B, 3B-F, 4B-F all from the 70s.
King 3B from the mid-50s.
Holton TR180
Olds Ambassador
Early HN White wall hanger converted into a floor lamp (ran the rod through the bell, so no damage to the horn)
Besson wall hanger, built in the 1860s according to a letter I have from Besson.

That wall hanger might be desirable by players of period instruments if it can be restored to a decent playing condition. Not worth very much because of the large quantity of later French trombones that have the same design, but still, 1860 is earlier than what a lot of people have.

Not too many (not enough in fact - I need to borrow instruments all the time Image...)

My main instrument is an Egger tenor sackbut after Sebastian Hainlein of Nuremberg (1632).

I have an early 90s Bach LT42 with aftermarket Hagmann and a bronze slide crook.

I also have a gorgeous silver plated with gold trim Conn small bore from ca. 1913, which I really don't get to play often enough.

Newest member of the family is a Wessex Bb ophicleide after Gautrot.

Another instrument will be added in about 3 weeks - I will be building (with the help and guidance of a master instrument maker) my own slide trumpet, based on a 1442 trumpet by Marcian Guitbert of Limoges! Can't wait!

1969 Conn 16E mellophonium
1938 Conn 6D double horn
1968 Conn 8B trumpet
Selman 17001 C trumpet
Carol Brass CTR-2000H-YSS trumpet
Pre-WWI Couesnon flugelhorn
Bach CR310 cornet
Getzen 383 frumpet

6 coach horns

Yamaha SY77 FM synthesizer
Yamaha DX7 FM synthesizer
Yamaha Reface DX FM synthesizer
Dave Smith Mopho SE analog monosynth
Novation KS4 virtual analog polysynth
Novation X-Station 49 virtual analog polysynth
Korg Kross 61 synth workstation
Korg Monotron analog monosynth
Casio Casiotone MT-100 home synth

Squier Affinity P-Bass (needs work)
2 broken violins

Various hand percussion

I'm currently without an alto trombone or a tenor with a valve - looking to rectify that in the next few months, as well as upgrading my double horn.

You mean increase it by 2 (to an 8D)?

I've had TAS (trombone acquiring syndrome) for quite awhile. I've been trying to pair down the herd but its tough. To many great horns out there!

Bones:
Bach 42T
50's Martin Committee
blue pbone

Other:
Bach TR300 trumpet
Pan American cornet
beater Conn bell front baritone (literally looks like it got ran over by a truck, but for $25 it makes a good practice horn)
old 2v (piston + rotary) g bugle
Vito clarinet
Squier jazz bass
cheap Casio keyboard

Wall hangers:
vintage Conn director trombone (needs major work and is practically unplayable, so it lives on my wall)
First Act trumpet (found in my middle school's band room closet demolished, wasn't work fixing for the school so BD gave it to me to put on my wall)

Horns I'm borrowing:
Yamaha 354 (school owned)
G baritone bugle (local drum corps)
G contra (^)

Used to have a Conn 50h that I used before I got my Bach, but ended up selling it to my cousin to upgrade from his jupiter student horn for high school band. I'd probably own a lot more horns with too many to count if I had the money to afford them. I'm looking to at least get a King 2/3b, new large bore tenor, bass trombone, nicer trumpet, euphonium, and tuba one day. I hope I'm not asking too much  Image

well heck, if we are including non-trombones, here's my list, in descending order of my ability to play them:
Bones:
Jin Bao 7B clone very modified as described here http://tromboneforum.org/index.php/topic,103379.0.html
King 8B/Bach 50 frankenbassone
bach 42G straight
bach 36 straight
various student bones in varying conditions

Other brass:
Holton Eb Monster 3v tuba 1917
Carl Fisher 4v baritone ~120yo
No-name cornet ~100yo
couple of student trumpets in varying conditions

I went through a didgeridoo "phase" 25 years or so ago:
Australian Eucalyptus Didgeridoo in Db
Big Heavy homemade aluminum Didg in B
couple of pvc didges in various keys

I am currently in the middle of a string "phase":
violin ~100yo for fiddling
viola ~80yo also for fiddling- tuned octave below normal violin
Cello of unknown age really fun to play
5/8 size Czech made upright Bass tuned in 5ths an octave below the cello
MK F0 style mandolin
home made cigar box mandolin
appalachian dulcimer
Gibson C-1 (classical) guitar
Japanese "lawsuit" hollow body electric guitar
peavy electric guitar
Fender acoustic guitar
banjo
2 accordions
yamaha electric piano

probably some others I've forgotten about plus a crate full of musical toys....

Well, if he'd make one, THAT would be interesting (apart from setting a new Guinness record).  Image
