New from Madison, Alabama

Post by CGSmith0524 »

Good Morning Everyone!

My name is Carl, and my son's name is Chase. He's a Junior at Bob Jones (7A) HS in Madison, Alabama. He is the musician in the house.... I've been Military, US Army since August 1999. I'm actively involved in his high school career, in fact, I sat on the Band Board, and I'm the Logistics Chair Officer as well.

I'm looking forward to learning more about Trombones and expanding my knowledge. We have a Shires Q36 on order and may be selling a Mint Condition (We are the Original Owners) Yamaha YBL-620GE in the near future.

Welcome! From what I have heard the Q36 is a great horn. Might get one myself one of these days.

Bottom line up front- the Q36 was not cheap, so I'm trying to recoup some of the cost. If my wife and I could afford to keep it, I would because it's in Mint Condition. However, with Chase being a Senior next year, I'm starting to look at College cost.

If someone could use this Yamaha, I'd love to make someone a good deal and let someone enjoy it. It plays absolutely amazing. It's never been damaged and I've recently had it serviced and the slide set-up prior to us boxing it back up.

Does he prefer the independent valve configuration?

The Yamaha is probably an excellent bass trombone. Probably not quite as good as the Shires Q36, but significantly better than most high schoolers play. If you sell it, don't let it go too cheap. TromboneChat might be a good place to list it to get a fair return.

This Q36 will be his first Trombone that has the Independent Valves; however, he has played them with is private instructor.

Thank you! I agree and Chase would too- it's an excellent bass trombone. In all honesty, I'd like to get a minimum of $2,000 out of it. I have some really good pictures of it, and I'll post it here in the Classified Section. Brand new, they are $3900, so it would save someone a lot of cash!
