Duet for Horn and Trombone

Post by IanDeterlingComposer »

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to share this new piece I composed for horn and trombone:

This is a three-movement work (about 12 minutes total). The first movement is heroic - something along the lines of a superhero flying through the air. The second is more mysterious - a couple of years ago I traveled to Slovenia and was able to explore old ruins of castles and fortresses in the Alps. I was going for that 'cautiously wandering around in an eerie place' vibe. The final movement is reminiscent of themes used for kings and queens in film scores from the early days of Hollywood. I had in mind Bella, my parent's golden retriever (she seems to be the queen of the house haha).

I've also adapted this duet for Alto Trombone with Trombone, Trumpet with Trombone, and Horn with Bass Trombone.

Let me know what you think!
