Finding opportunities to play

Post by braymond21 »

Hello!
I've been looking around for more places or opportunities to play music in my area but haven't been able to find much. I'd really like to play in more pit orchestras but am really just looking for any chance to play. I ended up reaching out to local youth theatres and local bands about playing but haven't come up with anything yet. I'm sure it also varies by state but is there somewhere else I should be looking or that I should be doing to get more opportunities to play?

Thanks

Churches. Put together your own group. Sometimes you can make your own opportunities.

Check this out:

For pit work, you need to contact local theater companies. Unfortunately, most shows do not need trombone any more so opportunities will be limited.

If you are looking to get paid for your efforts, that's a real problem -- much more opportunity to play for free that to play for pay.

Community bands. Once you start playing in one you will find that the other members are involved with other performance groups (both amateur and professional) and can help you make connections.
