I have a large shank Yamaha 51B, probably a decent copy but I don't have the equalivant Schilke to compare it to. (I could compare the rim to a 51D). If you're looking for something cheap to try out, I'd sell for $22. shipped. Plating on the rim is good, but there are numerous small nicks and the shank has wear.

I'm mainly looking to try one since I've never tried a Schilke and want to see what the rim is like. I see lots of comments about Schilke rims being "different" somehow--some people love them, some hate them. Is the Yamaha rim like a Schilke rim?

Schilke also shows their rim as 25.63mm, whereas Yamaha shows as 25.23mm, which is ironically smaller than their 48-sized mouthpieces. Maybe they just measure weird.

I just did a visual comparison between the Yamaha 51B, a Schilke 52D and a Bach 6 1/2 AL, (Yeah I know, all different sizes) and both the Yamaha and the Schilke appear to have a slightly narrower and more rounded rim than the Bach. They appear to be very similar to one another. (I'm currently using a Yamaha Peter Sullivan MP on my 42, and a Greg Black 4-5 on my 36, and have been happy with both so I haven't played my Schilkes for awhile) I think the Yamaha came (used) with a horn I bought awhile back and I never really tried it. I've never been crazy about Bach MP's, and years ago went from a Bach 5G to a Schilke 52 and never looked back. Hope this helps somewhat; I just thought if you wanted to try the Yamaha for size and feel, it would be a "cheap" way to try it out. -Sue
